Job Description

The company specialise in the latest commercial gas detection equipment (fixed and portable instruments). They work closely with their customers to provide a very high quality of service and build long relationships. The company is now looking to recruit a Sales Engineer to join their team. A working background in chemistry (or equivalent), electrical engineering or instrumentation is essential.

Typically the role will be office based, and some travel will be necessary. The key areas for the position are to:

be a consistent and accessible point of contact for customers

advise on product selection to meet customer requirements and expectations.

prepare and issue cost effective quotations for product and service solutions based on customer requirements

provide support and training of products

Build up and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers

Identify and establish new business opportunities

Attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings

Keep up to date with legislation and working standards

The ideal candidate will have:

A solid technical background (Chemistry, Physics or equivalent),

Instrumentation knowledge

Be able to read and interpret technical documentation (product specifications, datasheets, quality standards etc)

Use of initiative, prioritise using sound judgement and good business sense

Team working ability, use of initiative

The ability to build relationships with clients quickly

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

A full UK driving licence

Working hours - 37.5hrs (7.5hrs per day Mon - Fri) 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays

The role would suit someone with proven track record of related technical sales or an experienced hands-on electronics technician / engineer looking to progress their career and move into sales. They will have the relevant qualifications and experience, possess good communication and organisational skills, able to prioritise and work under pressure, keen and have a practical approach to work.

The successful Sales Engineer will also need to be flexible with their time as there may be extended hours and other duties not mentioned in this job description.
