With the frosty mornings and evenings now upon us, police are reminding drivers not to leave their cars unattended - and easy pickings for opportunistic thieves - when de-icing them on frosty days over the coming months.
- Never leave your engine running unattended, even if it is on your drive and you are only going to be a couple of seconds. This advice also applies to leaving cars running at petrol stations or shops as well as outside your home. Always remain with your car.
- Don’t leave the keys in the ignition - always take your keys with you when you leave your car and lock the vehicle.
- Did you know? Leaving your vehicle unattended with the ignition on is a traffic offence - and can invalidate your car insurance.
