Stars from the Saracens team, including captain Steve Borthwick, the former England international, swapped sweaty Saracens training tops for bunny ears to encourage women and men to sign up to this years event on Saturday June 11th.
The muscle bound stars helpfully stripped off their rugby tops to put on one of the Hospices’ coveted pink Walk with the Stars t-shirts and posed for pictures with some of the walkers who took part last year.
The Hospice of St Francis cares for seriously ill patients from across Chesham, Amersham, Abbots Langley, St Albans, Harpenden, Redbourne, Markyate and Dacorum and supports their families.
Speaking to Hospice event organisers Fran Martin and Emma Day at Old Albanians rugby ground, on Harpenden Road, captain Steve Borthwick said he was delighted to be able to pledge his support for the midnight walk.
He said: ”I’d like to encourage everyone to take part this year and make it a record-breaker for the Hospice.
”This is such a great opportunity to promote the Hospice and the fabulous walk. It would be great if we could drum up more support from the men this year too - pull on one of these t-shirts and get involved and raise as much money as possible for the Hospice. You may need its support and care one day too.”
To sign up to this years’ Walk with the Stars it costs just £15. Simply visit www.walkwiththestars.org.uk or call 01442 869555.
Berkhamsted based Hospice of St Francis is the only inpatient unit with special facilities that allow patients to be cared for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
