Every year in the UK 1500 children are diagnosed with cancer.
Imagine the stress of a parent being told your child has cancer. Eddie and Marion O’Gorman suffered this fate not once but twice.
In November 1986, their son Paul was diagnosed with leukaemia. He died just nine weeks later. He was only fourteen years old.
As a result of their experience, Eddie and Marion vowed to help other children to fight leukaemia by raising funds for children with this dreadful disease.
Less than a year after losing Paul, the couple lost their daughter Jean, also to cancer.
The story of the O’Gorman family’s double tragedy quickly spread and Diana, The Princess of Wales was so deeply moved that she kindly inaugurated the charity and continued to support it until her own untimely death.
Eddie, Marion and other family and friends have worked tirelessly and today what started as a memorial charity has become CHILDREN with CANCER UK the leading national charity dedicated to the fight against leukaemia and other childhood cancers.
The charity has, in the last 10 years, raised over £100 million to fund buildings, vital equipment and work at specialist hospitals and hospices throughout the country and has become major force in paediatric oncology.

All this has been made possible by the hard work and kindness of the charity’s supporters. Some famous some not so. One friend of the charity is Caroline Randerson who has hosted an annual summer party at the internationally renowned Villa Tiberio restaurant in Marbella, Spain for the past four years.
Villa Tiberio is owned by serial restaurant entrepreneur Sandro Morelli who opened two legendary London restaurants, Barbarella I and II which were patronised by the who’s who of international society.
Caroline Anderson and many of Signore Morelli’s customers from his London restaurants now dine at Villa Tiberio and she realised that the restaurant would make the perfect venue for a high profile CHILDREN with CANCER UK charity event.
Cienté Salon Director, Trisha Buller was asked by Caroline to support the event and immediately agreed to help. Trisha says “The Cienté team are in a fortunate position and believe that through hard work we can all give something back to society. How could we not be touched by the O’Gorman’s personal tragedy and their incredible charity.”
As part of the event Cienté flew their top artistic team over to Spain to cut and style hair of the partygoers donating all proceeds to CHILDREN with CANCER UK. The event was an outstanding success and Trisha cut Sandro Morelli’s hair in front of the assembled media (pictured - Trish Buller cuts Sandro Morelli’s hair in his beautiful restaurant gardens).
The CHILDREN with CANCER UK Summer party is now an established part of the Marbella social calendar and has Caroline Anderson and her supporters have now raised over £500,000 for the charity.
