Spring is here and it’s time to blow away the cobwebs, get active and enjoy the great outdoors. What better way to achieve all those aims and see the Berkhamsted countryside than by joining the Health Walks – completely free of charge!
The walk takes place on alternate Thursdays starting on 5th May. Meeting at the canal side of Waitrose entrance, off Lower King’s Road, HP4 2AL, this one – two hour walk is just the thing to help you shake off the winter blues and boldly go forward into Spring and Summer.
You’ll be able to make new friends as well admiring the beautiful surroundings and watching the countryside burst into life after the winter. All this whilst getting and keeping fit, in a fun and relaxed way.
All the walks are led by trained volunteers and they will be very pleased to see you. There’s also a back – up leader on the walks to make sure that no one gets left behind and you can walk at your own pace.
So why not give it a try and take those first steps into a more active lifestyle!
Just turn up on the day with suitable footwear and some water. For your first walk you will need to complete a short health questionnaire. You can do this on the day or online beforehand.
The walks are supported by the GPs, hospitals, clinics and many other medical practioners, as well as sports and leisure organisations and Hertfordshire County Council.
And, why not take the next step by leading or backing up on a walk and be part of our team of committed volunteers; training will be provided.
For more information either about the walks in Bekhamsted or elsewhere in Dacorum or across the county, or becoming a walk leader, contact the Countryside Management Service on 01727 848168, email Healthwalks.cms@hertscc.gov.uk, or visit www.hertslink.org/cms/healthwalks.
