Since it was taken over by the award-winning independent pub company Peach in 2007, The Old Mill in Berkhamsted has been one of the best places to eat, drink and meet friends in town and picked up a few awards of its own including Observer Food Monthly Food Awards ‘Best Bar’. To mark four years of serving up the good stuff and plenty of the good times, the pub is throwing a party on Friday 25th November to thank locals for their support, celebrate the best that Berkhamsted has to offer and raise money for a great local cause, The Hospice of St Francis, at the same time.
The evening gets underway at 7.30pm on the 25th and has the special theme of ‘Made in Berkhamsted’. It will be a great evening of entertainment, good things to eat and drink and a few surprises, to make it a night to remember. As well as serving up mini versions of some of the dishes from the pub’s popular autumn menu, there will be the chance to sip on some bubbly and enjoy a pint or two of real ale, some literally brewed down the road at the Tring Brewery. Local sausages made by local butchers Eastwoods will also be on the bar for all to sample.
Live music act Next Time, the pub’s resident band who play every last Friday of the month, will be here on Friday 25th. There’ll also be a silent auction with some fantastic prizes generously donated by local businesses to bid for, with all proceeds from the sale going to local charity The Hospice of St Francis. If you’re feeling lucky, you can also try your hand at ‘Spin the Wheel’, a great Old Mill bar game where you spin the wheel for a chance to win either 25%, 50% or even 100% off a round of drinks when you step up to the bar. Money raised from ‘Spin the Wheel’ will also be donated to the hospice to support the vital work it does locally to care for people with serious or terminal illnesses.
“We’ve had four cracking years here in Berkhamsted and in that time welcomed so many people through the door who’ve since become Old Mill friends,” says Zoë Knowles from the pub. “We really appreciate the support they’ve given to the pub and when the chance came along to thank everyone we naturally jumped at it. The party’s our way of letting guests know how much we value them and also of celebrating everything that’s good about the town. It’s going to be a great night out that will also raise money for an inspirational charity that helps a cause close to so many people’s hearts and we hope as many people as possible will come along on the night and share the celebration with us.”
