Alzheimer’s Society is inviting local families living with dementia to find out more about the help that is available in Dacorum. The charity is holding a ‘showcase event’ on Tuesday 11th October from 1.30pm to 3.30pm in the Berkhamsted Civic Centre.
Members of local charities, community groups and healthcare professionals will join the Mayor of Tring, Deputy Mayor of Berkhamsted and the Deputy Mayor of Dacorum for this event. Members of the public who are living with dementia or are worried about their memory are also welcome.
Kim Hurrell from Alzheimer’s Society says: ‘1,770 people in Dacorum are currently living with dementia and this is expected to rise drastically over the next ten years. Two thirds of people with dementia live at home and can feel very isolated. We want to spread the word throughout Dacorum that there is strong support for families living with dementia.’
‘The aim of this event is to illustrate the core services we offer in Dacorum. Guests will have the opportunity to find out about our Dementia Support Work, Dementia Cafés and take part in our newest service: Singing for the Brain. Volunteers and carers who have been involved in our services will also be sharing their experiences with the society’.
The showcase takes place on Tuesday 11th October from 1.30pm - 3.30pm in the Berkhamsted Civic Centre, 161 High Street, Berkhamsted, HP4 3HD.
