Between 1.45pm and 3.25pm yesterday, Thursday 8th July, offenders forced entry to a house in Bridgewater Road, Berkhamsted. They smashed a rear window using a garden fork to gain access to the key which was in the rear door lock. They then entered through this rear door and locked the front door to prevent the occupant from getting back into the house.
The house was searched but it is believed the resident returned and disturbed the offenders who made off empty handed.
If you saw or heard anything concerning this offence phone the Police on 0845 3300222 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Another similar offence was committed around 4.00pm yesterday, at a bungalow in Home Farm Road, Northchurch. In this offence the front door was kicked in and a quantity of jewellery was stolen. The same offenders may have been responsible for both offences.
Please pay attention to any persons or vehicles that are considered suspicious. Phone the Police immediately, using the 999 system, if you are concerned. Do not approach vehicles or suspects but do obtain descriptions and vehicle details if possible.
