Fair organizer, Jenny Titmuss, feels very strongly that Vintage Fashion should not be elitist. “You don’t have to be a connoisseur, you don’t have to know what you’re talking about, you don’t have to buy into any of that stuff...you just have to look, feel and love it. It isn’t just there for the special people, but for all of us to enjoy” says Jenny, who as an experienced Vintage dealer herself wants to provide a great vintage fashion fair in Berkhamsted and give anyone who is interested in vintage, both–male and female, everything they could possibly want or need under one roof. From 1940’s day dresses to 1960’s rockabilly, from vintage costume jewellery to 1930’s costumes, from something you get married in to something you can sleep in, this Vintage Fair will have it all, from £3 to £300. |

Vintage is really quite the thing these days. Not only are you doing your bit for the planet by buying a ‘pre worn’ garment, you’re also buying into our history, our past and everything that has made the world of fashion what it has become today. Many high streets up and down the country have their own specialist vintage boutiques, lovingly stocked by their vintage loving owners and frequented by their adoring vintage loving customers. “These shops are on the increase now especially outside of London, which is exactly how it should be” says Jenny, “I really encourage the local vintage dealers and shopkeepers to take part in the fairs; it’s great for their business and great for the vintage community to have that alternative”.
Long gone are the days of thinking of Vintage as something you dress in for a fancy dress party. There is so much more to it than a pair of flares and a tank top. For many, vintage is a true lifestyle. We’ve all read or seen stories of people who live the complete 1950’s life from the style and interior of their house to having the right car and everything in between. But vintage buying doesn’t have to quite so drastic. It can be as simple as adding a touch of flair and individuality to any outfit – a piece of jewellery, a pair of shoes, a special hat, or even a swimsuit! “Touching something as simple as an original 1940’s crepe dress and imagining it’s past can be the defining moment!!” says Jenny when explaining that for many, catching the vintage bug opens up a whole new world of style. |
